Here's a pre-dawn shot in of a mother and cub I ran across earlier this year. I've worked really hard to reduce then noise to a usable level because I love the moment between these two. I'm not sure I succeeded, but I still love the interaction.

The Indiana Roof Ballroom, affectionately called the “Roof,” has been an important part of downtown Indianapolis since 1927 when it first opened it's doors. Located above the Indiana Repertory Theatre, it has hosted famous performers, big band dances, fundraisers, corporate parties, weddings and special events for nearly a century, and is considered one of the most historic venues in the entire Midwest.
Dreamed up in 1926 by Edgar O. Hunter and Preston Rubush, the Roof first opened in September of 1927. Designed to appear as if you were in a European village, no detail was forgotten. Painted grapevines creep up plaster columns and the stucco facades, doorways and balconies contain exquisite details and even the staircase railings have ornate woodwork. The domed ceiling resembles a starry night sky, with soft clouds and a crescent moon.
ndiana Repertory Theatre, frequently abbreviated IRT, is a professional regional theatre in Indianapolis, Indiana that began as a genuine repertory theatre with its casts performing in multiple shows at once. It has subsequently become a regional theatre and a member of the League of Resident Theatres. A standard season typically consists of nine or ten plays on two different stages (with at least two selected especially although not exclusively for student audiences, one of which is often a Shakespeare play) and the bulk of its season (including a holiday show, usually Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol) performed on the OneAmerica Stage.
The theatre company has history in two theatre buildings. It began in 1972 in The Athenaeum. In 1980, the IRT moved to its current home, The Indiana Theatre, a former Paramount Pictures Publix Theatre at 140 West Washington Street, built in 1927 and converted from a movie theater for IRT's

Lense-wise, I didn't quite need all of the mighty 300mil telephoto, 260 was quite sufficient on this occasion.
Sturdy and fun loving, the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier dog breed is a friend to one and all. They’re relatively easygoing for a terrier, need a moderate amount of exercise, and can make a great family dog. These affectionate pups love just about everybody they meet. They’re even good for first-time pet parents and apartment dwellers. But beware: that soft, silky coat needs a lot of grooming, and the Wheaten can occasionally be hard headed when it comes to training.
My somewhat clumsy yet affectionate tribute to Ursula Le Guin's beautiful novel and second entry to the Hammertime figbarf contest. I've done four of the main characters and two generic Gethenians. If anyone has read the book and has some advice of what I could improve please let know.
Estraven, Prime Minister of Karhide. One gets the sense of Estraven being someone who has much to say but feels that he cannot, so I tried to convey this by having his beard cover his mouth but retaining his expressive eyes.
Genly Ai, the Terran, sent to Gethen on a mission of first contact. He finds the extreme cold of the planet difficult to acclimatise to so I've got him pretty much bundled up in layers of clothing. Also he's taller than everyone on Gethen; the cold has given the local people shorter statures.
King Argaven, the paranoid ruler of Karhide. At the start of the novel, his is officially opening a new bridge, so I've decided to suggest some ceremonial attire of that occasion.
Faxe, a Foreteller of the Handdara. Faxe is described as being a very beautiful so I've attempted to suggest his calm and angelic demeanor. I struggled with his design the most.
A typical Gethenian out collecting seeds, he could be Goss whom Genly meets in his travels. He is wearing a thick pouch around his neck that he can pull over his head if he gets cold. Similarly, on his wrists he wears gloves that can be rolled back as need.
A guard of the Orgota, which is something of a Communist country and also trade partner of Karhide. He is holding a sonic gun, shield and is wearing an animal skin fur uniform.

The 80 cabins accommodate two people, with an hourly capacity of 284 people. Once arrived on the terrace called "Poggio S.Elsa", you can enjoy a 360-degree landscape on Po Valley above Lake Maggiore up to the unmistakable Mount Rosa, perfect and majestic.
Sindy: Now have a seat and I'll pour you a cuppa. Then we can talk things over. *Snorts* That tiger needs boundaries.
Cassidy-Patch: He'd rather have a glass of milk please. And a cookie to go with.
Sindy: Oh does he now?
Cassidy-Patch: Very much. He says you should be thankful he didn't use his mighty claws.
Sindy: And he should be thankful I didn't put him in the blender.
Cassidy-Patch: Ah. . . Just a cookie then?
Sindy: *Kisses her sister affectionately* Let's make it two.
Tiger: (Hmpf, I'd rater die than drink tea.)

Affectionately known as 'Billy' at the ELR, 4002 is one of a pair of Hudswell Diesel-Electrics which were used by the Manchester Ship Canal Company as part of their extensive fleet operating around Trafford Park.
The pair were numbered 4001/2 at the MSC. Sister loco 4001 also survived for many years as a static non-operational exhibit at the Winfields Store site at Acre Village (between Haslingden and Accrington) however the loco was cut up in 2018 as it was in a poor state. 4001 has donated many parts to allow 4002 to live on as a working example. Information from East Lancs Railway diesel web site. Billy is seen here with a demonstration photographic train at Castlecroft diesel depot

Sometimes called a Bull-Pug, the Miniature Bulldog is a cross between an English Bulldog and a Pug, Puggle, or French Bulldog to create a smaller size bulldog that will be perfect for your family. English Bulldogs were bred to bait, guard, and control bulls while Pugs have been companions to royals since about 1600 BC. The combination naturally features the best qualities of the two, creating a small, affectionate pup who gets along well with people and doesn't require a large time commitment. They are peaceful and get along well with animals and people.
These photos were taken at Parque Pingüino Rey near Porvenir, Chile. This is a King Penguin Colony; where over 100 Kings nest. King Penguins are the second largest penguin in the world after the similar looking Emperor. They were so elegant and tall and there were adults and immatures. A few were swimming in brackish water and it was funny to watch them walk so tall and human-like, waddling with their flippers held out! These penguins were truly as amazing as they are depicted on nature documentaries on TV shows! They would tuck their heads in to sleep and their bills would disappear. They were so affectionate with each other canoodling and caressing with their bills and whole bodies and made awesome sounds. Some appeared to be holding eggs in their feet. They were truly fascinating to watch and I felt blessed to see them.

A lively mix of two of England's storied working Terriers, the Jack Russell and the Yorkshire, the Yorkie Russell is a small, energetic dog with a big personality. They are sweet, affectionate dogs with a playful attitude and are constantly seeking attention from their owners. Even maxing out at only 15 inches tall, these pint-sized pooches have no reservations when it comes to exploration, as their Terrier-bred nature means they are often brave and inquisitive, which can also get them into trouble.
The Clyde Auditorium, affectionately known as "The Armadillo", is a concert venue and auditorium in Glasgow, Scotland. The building sits on the site of the now infilled Queen's Dock on the River Clyde, adjacent to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre. Often likened to the Sydney opera house in Australia, this wasn't the inspiration behind the design in fact it was a series of Interlocking ship hulls in reference to the Clyde' shipbuilding heritage
Affectionately called “Columbus Eclectic,” the combined architectural elements of Greek Revival, Gothic and Italianate come together to form a most welcoming style. Meet Boris, an elderly but very lovable Jack Russell Terrier belonging to our German friend Waltraud.
How Waltraud came to own Boris is interesting. She had only ever had Scottish Deerhounds which are large very placid dogs. She heard about two Deerhounds which were needing to be re-homed due to their owners' ill health so she set off down to Wales to pick them up. Just as she was about to leave with the dogs the people asked, "You wouldn't like a Jack Russell too would you? He's been brought up with the Deerhounds and will miss them when they go." Needless to say Waltraud agreed.
Some time after they had settled in with Waltaud I phoned to ask how things were going and she said the Deerhounds were great and Boris was definitely improving. She only felt like killing him about twenty times a day now! When you have been used to very placid big dogs a young, lively Jack Russell was a trial.
Fast forward to now. Boris is getting on in years and is an only dog, having seen off the original two Deerhounds and the two which followed them. (Small dogs generally live longer than large ones). Waltraud couldn't love him any more than she does. He is still cute and very affectionate and is enjoying getting 100% of Waltraud's attention.
On a technical note, I love the way the 50mm f1.4 lens has rendered this image.

This one's from early July 2021. There was a haze high up in the atmosphere from wildfires burning further west. I couldn't walk much as the incident in Glacier that started my back down this spiral had happened about a week before. I was early in the process of learning how bad it was, and well, the kind way to say it is that I'm stubborn. All I knew then was that I couldn't walk well enough to go see the geo-thermals like I wanted to; so, I spent a lot of time looking for grizzlies along a section of the road I had been tipped off that they frequented. That road was a two-hour drive from the campsite, and I drove that road for all 6 days I was in the park. Yeah, stubborn. My efforts were rewarded with many bear shots of which I'm quite proud. I made quite a few memories and some friends in the effort as well. The thing that struck me was that every night it seemed had these spectacular sunsets. It took a while for me to put two and two together and realize the role the haze from the destructive wildfires was playing in these beautiful evenings.
I think about my back injury a lot these days. Constant pain has a way of demanding attention. Just last night I ended up spending a few hours on the floor because there was no position anywhere that didn't hurt and that one at least hurt in a different way. I tell these stories because I know others fight similar, if different, battles. I know that sometimes the scars seem so worn and thick that nothing good could ever come. I also see the sunsets from the wildfires. I don't know what good and beautiful thing is being worked through this pain. Somehow, I do still trust that in some way that I don't see, it is there. And that it is good.
My mind likes the way C.S. Lewis approached these thoughts. Here are several different quotes jumbled together from his book, The Problem of Pain.
"Love is something more stern and splendid than mere kindness."
"Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person’s ultimate good as far as it can be obtained."
"The problem of reconciling human suffering with the existence of a God who loves, is only insoluble so long as we attach a trivial meaning to the word ‘love’, and look on things as if man were the centre of them.
Man is not the centre. God does not exist for the sake of man. Man does not exist for his own sake. ‘Thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created’ [Revelation 4:11]. We were made not primarily that we may love God (though we were made for that too) but that God may love us, that we may become objects in which the Divine love may rest ‘well pleased’. To ask that God’s love should be content with us as we are is to ask that God should cease to be God: because He is what He is, His love must, in the nature of things, be impeded and repelled, by certain stains in our present character, and because He already loves us He must labour to make us lovable. We cannot even wish, in our better moments, that He could reconcile Himself to our present impurities—no more than the beggar maid could wish that King Cophetua should be content with her rags and dirt, or a dog, once having learned to love man, could wish that man were such as to tolerate in his house the snapping, verminous, polluting creature of the wild pack. What we would here and now call our ‘happiness’ is not the end God chiefly has in view: but when we are such as He can love without impediment, we shall in fact be happy."
"I must add, too, that the only purpose of the book is to solve the intellectual problem raised by suffering; for the far higher task of teaching fortitude and patience I was never fool enough to suppose myself qualified, nor have I anything to offer my readers except my conviction that when pain is to be borne, a little courage helps more than much knowledge, a little human sympathy more than much courage, and the least tincture of the love of God more than all. "

We have affectionately named this moose, "Bruce the Moose." He has visited our yard for four years in a row now, the first two with his mother. We are not sure where he goes when he is gone, but he will come back on occasion and is very comfortable with my wife and I. (not so much with our dog) While taking his photos, he will walk towards us, ears forward, not pinned back. We refuse to try and touch him or feed him because we do not want him to associate humans as kind individuals.
He does me a favor by eating the young willows, if he only knew that I would pay him for his services!
We both hope Bruce will visit us for many years. However, moose are hunted each fall and the chances of a moose this close to houses makes his chances of living a long life very low. I hope he beats the odds.
As the sun began to rise, this mated Great Blue Heron pair began an elaborate "dance". Each heron took turns puffing out their feathers, stretching their necks high and low, and spreading their wings. This intimate interaction was incredible to witness.
